Mel Foley, LPC

Middletown, CT & Telehealth (She/Her)

I’m Mel, a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairfield University. Being here, in this moment, is a small victory! No matter where you are in your level of awareness or readiness to change, I will meet you there and be by your side every step of the way!

As a strengths-based, compassion-focused, person-centered therapist, I see each client as an individual rather than a diagnosis, and strive to support them holistically using a wellness model of therapy. I truly believe that the therapeutic relationship is paramount and emphasize the value of rapport-building early on to help create, support, and nurture a strong therapeutic alliance throughout. I incorporate a variety of evidence-based practices stemming from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and more. The beauty in therapy is that there is not a “one size fits all” approach, and as such, I embrace a collaborative and adaptive approach to fit the unique needs of each client and the dynamics within the therapeutic relationship.

I am committed to providing Health at Every Size (HAES), LGBTQIA affirming, sex positive, culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed care. I feel particularly passionate about supporting college-age/emerging adults through identity exploration and life stage transitions. Other areas of clinical interest include working with those impacted by depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive related challenges, eating disorders and disordered eating patterns, self-esteem and body image concerns, relationship/intimacy issues, and the various life challenges faced by women.

If you think we would be a good fit, reach out to Small Victories Wellness Services to set up an intake appointment with me. I look forward to connecting and beginning this journey with you!
