Allissa Tamiso, LPC
Middletown, CT & Telehealth (She/Her)
I’m Allissa Tamiso, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling from Central Connecticut State University. I know that you’re just trying to be happy, and it feels like happiness is harder than it should be. You see other people who seem to understand how to navigate life seamlessly, while you feel like you don’t quite get it, or that there are endless obstacles in your way. This is where our work begins.
I have worked with folks struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, PTSD, ADHD, relationship issues and life transitions. While I am formally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, it’s important to me to build a connection with you. I provide a person-centered approach to make sure you feel that you are seen and that you matter. I value each unique perspective and life experience, creating a safe space to be exactly who you are. Once we create a foundation of trust and safety, then we can begin identifying specific skills to navigate the obstacles.
I like to encourage mindfulness to help you see yourself more clearly, and highlight strengths to facilitate change in the ways that are necessary. I will challenge the negative and judgmental thoughts that you’ve become too familiar with. Wherever you find yourself, let me walk beside you. Together we can work on choosing courage over comfort. I look forward to meeting you!
